[Foodie] Oyster Bar & Grill Wharf

Craving for Oyster? I know just the place you can go! Oyster Bar & Grill Wharf is located at Robertson Quay (full address at the bottom).

We tried the following :-

Oyster Platter (1/2 dozen at $36)

Signature dish, chef's selection of assorted oysters

 

From the left to the right: A pair of Oysters from New Zealand, Australia and France

To enhance the flavor of the Oysters, they had included lemon, salt and whisky. I felt that Lemon and Salt are a definite must. However, the whisky had overpower the taste of the Oyster. The Oyster from France was quite ok. I find that the one from Australia was salty and tiny. My favourite was the one from New Zealand. It was flavourful, creamy and juicy. Yumz!

Grilled Cod Fish, Salmon and Scarmozza Cheese with Orange Butter Sauce ($22)

The cheese was not those melted ones. Although the cheese were more like solid cheese, its still creamy. Surprisingly, the cheese went really well with the fishes. Yum!
 

Australia Sirloin Beef Steak with Fond De Veau Sauce - 200g ($38)

The Beef Steaks were very tender. The side dish tasted like Indian Salad and it was quit unique as this was the first time I had that as a side dish. The sauce went well with the beef. And since the beef were nicely cut into bite-sized portions so it's very suitable for first dates ;)
 

Garlic Butter Rice ($12)

 

The rice had a bit of the claypot's "chao-ta" taste. The garlic although it's a bit burned but it's not bitter and it's grill just nice. The rice is like sushi rice, tasty not it's own even when there's not much ingredients.

 

Overall, I liked this place for their ambience and food. The staffs were attentive so its a really nice place to have your dinner at.

[Foodie] Nook - D.I.Y House of Pancakes

Today I will blog about this "Do It Yourself" (D.I.Y) House of Pancakes called Nook. Sounds interesting? Read on...

 

When we arrived, we saw many families with kids. I suppose parents love to bring their kids here so that the kids (and parents) will eat their food and have fun at the same time.

 

We were directed to a table that seats 4. Right in the middle of the table, there was a pan for the pancakes. They have placed 2 bottles of syrup on the table. One of which tastes like chocolate (but a little weird) and the other I guess is maple syrup. I did not try the syrup that were on the table as I have ordered my own sweet toppings.

Basically, there are 6 choices of Pancake Batter (i.e. Original, Banana, Pandan, Dark Chocolate, Red Velvet and Strawberry). We chose to try 2 different flavors namely Original and Red Velvet.

After that, we were to select our sweet toppings. We chose Rainbow Sprinkles and Peanut Butter.

Each bottle of batter together with the sweet toppings costs $10.

 

We did not wait long for our batters and sweet toppings to arrive. We had fun trying to draw and write on the pan using the bottle of batters. Some of our doodles...

In conclusion, the staffs were really friendly. They offered to take our pictures without us asking (twice). The pancakes did not stick on the pan and were easy to flip over. The pancakes taste better than I thought, it was crispy. I felt the red velvet was an innovative flavor. 1 bottle of batter for 1 person is more than enough, in fact we were struggling to finish both batters. To be honest, I enjoyed drawing and eating the pancakes.

[Foodie] Wedding Food Tasting: Marina Bay Sands

Hello Readers!!!

A couple of months back, I had the honour to attend a Food Tasting Wedding Dinner of one of my relatives held in MBS - Sands Expo & Convention Center. We reached at 7pm at the said location for the food tasting :)

 

The dishes served were as follows ...



Cold Lobster Salad Combination

 

Sautéed Jumbo Hokkaido Scallops and Asparagus Tips in Taro Basket

 

Deep-fried Tiger Prawns with Foie Gras

 

Braised Shark's Fin Soup with King Crab and Bamboo Piths

 

Sliced South African Abalone with Seasonal Vegetables

 

Steamed Fresh Garoupa with Spring Onions

 

Crispy Chicken with Crispy Garlic

 

Braised E-Fu Noodles with Exotic Mushrooms and Conpoy

 

Yam Paste with Pumpkin and Hasma

 

Overall, the food were much better than expected. Maybe that's because I read a few unpleasant remarks on the food online. I was told that the service rendered was not bad during the actual day although there were minor hiccups but it was rectified by the manager quite promptly. It was delighting to know that MBS is working on their services.

[Travel] London- 5 days 4 nights F&E (2/2)

Welcome back to my last post for London!

Musical
We watched 2 musicals in London namely Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. I have enjoyed both musicals immensely.

 

Phantom of the Opera
Location: Her Majesty's Theatre
We bought 2 tickets at The Original London Visitor Centre at £95. As it was my very first musical, I was literally gripped with excitement.

 

From a distance when we saw the theatre, I thought that it looked really cool, like those olden days movies! Crowds had began to gather in the waiting area of the theatre as the time drew nearer. There were staffs selling Phantom of the Opera's souvenirs to tourists who wished to keep mementos of that day's musical <3

 

Due to copyright issues, we were not permitted to take any pictures during the musical, but we were allowed to take pictures before the musical started and during break times.

 

Overall, I liked the voices of the actor and actress. They could sing very well, and their emotions were portrayed really well. It was amazing how they can use the limited space on stage to act out the story. Brilliant!

Les Miserables
Location: Queens Theatre
We bought 2 tickets at Queens Theatre and it cost us £130. Although the tickets were more expensive than that of the Phantom of the Opera's, we decided to pamper ourselves and spend the money after having reasoned that we flew all the way to London!

 

Due to popular demand for this musical, the seats left were limited. In the end, we chose seats that were in the middle. Despite my dislike for their low ceiling blocking some of my views, we were thankfully able to see the actors and actresses. The theatre had a artfully feel to it.

 

 

Similarly, we are prohibited from taking any pictures or video once the musical started. I like the voices of the actors and actress. Beautiful voices indeed. The crowds here were more enthusiastic as compared to that of the Phantom of the Opera. When the musical ended, and the actor and actress came out to bow, the crowd stood up and applause loudly!

Primark

Looking to purchase cheap clothes and accessories!? Head over to Primark where you will be spoilt for choices for cheap cheap clothes, accessories, shoes and bags! The best part is that there are 2 floors! Girls, get ready to go crazy!

Primark is located near the Marble Arch! So simply take a tube down to Marble Arch!

 

Don't forget to claim for your tax free shopping for tourists! And look how much I spent just in Primark!!!

 

Harrods
In my honest opinion, there was nothing much to shop for in Harrods except their butter cookies. So we did not stay long in Harrods, as there were many atas (i.e. expensive) shops all around. By then, we have already purchased those expensive stuffs that we had intended to buy in France.

As we were walking around Harrods, we came across this cute place for animals lover. Cookies, cakes and drinks were sold for animals. So cute! I was very tempted to buy for my dog but my only concern was that the food may spoil even before I reached home.

 

M&M
Are you a fan of M&M? If you are, this is a must go place for you! We were walking along the street of London when we chance upon this totally awesome place! Get ready to be spoilt by lots and lots of M&Ms from M&M chocolates to M&M merchandises!

 

Look at this M&M flag of London! All of the "dots" are actually M&M chocolates! *Loves* Don't go eating the M&M flag...

 

 

Look at those M&M posters, pictures and big figurines that were all around M&M World! Cool!

 

 

 

You can go crazy with all the M&M chocolates and candies!

 

 

 Let's move on for more M&M clothes, accessories and figurines...

 

Finally, it was time to pay. Even their cashier counter is so cute!

 

 

Basically, there are 4 levels of fun! With lots of pictures to take and lots of M&M souvenirs to purchase! If you have time, do visit their M&M World!!!

Covent Garden Market
There's a variety of stores here. You can find handmade items to antique to crafts. It was a very interesting place to visit.

 

We were walking for a while when we chanced onto this quite interesting place to eat. Rice were being scooped from a huge wok to serve to customers. Interesting... We gave into the temptation and bought a plate to share. As there were no available tables, we stood at a corner to try out the rice.

It was only after we finished eating, we saw that we were not the only customers of this huge wok of rice. There were birds eating from the huge wok, much to our dismay. But by then the plate of rice was settled deeply into our tummy. Oh well...

Misc
Rain Room
Rain room was a temporary event in London held from 4 October 2012 – 3 March 2013. It felt like a way to "control" the weather in a 100 square room. The venue is held at The Curve, Barbican Centre, London, UK. We waited for about 4.5hours -.-"' Admission was free.

 

Before we entered the rain area, we were told not to make huge movements. As the sensor may not be able to detect us.

 

I was a little wet when I exit. Brrr... Nonetheless, it was quite fun.

Located within walking distance of Queens Theatre. We decided to try out their Ribs!

We ordered Platter for 2. It was a giant dish for two to share, all come served with coleshaw, Adams crispy golden onion and fries.

 

Adams Platter (£23.99)

Full rack of BBQ pork ribs, a mountain of chicken wings and crispy mushrooms. More than enough to fuel the appetite of two!

 

The Adams Platter was huge! We could not finish the platter -.-"' their Pork Ribs were really soft and tender and it was easy to cut with a knife and a fork. I enjoyed their Pork Ribs a lot. I had a huge tummy after finishing this platter...

Frankie and Bennys (New York Italian Restaurant and Bar)
Location: 7 Whitehall London
We were attracted to this place because of a promotion! It was a little packed when we entered the Restaurant but we were lucky as one group just left so we got their sofa seat table!

Four Seasons Chinese Restaurant

A friend of mine recommended this place for their famous roast duck. To be honest, we had pasta, meat, cheese and all sorts of Europe food till I kind of missed Chinese food. So when we arrived at this restaurant, we over ordered.

Heathrow Airport

All good things must come to an end. Finally it was time to bid farewell to London :( We packed our luggages, and waited for our already booked shuttle car service via our Hotel to Heathrow Airport.

 

 

As this was our final stop, we proceeded to do our tax refund. We took less than an hour and the officer were quite fast in processing our refund. Thankfully, they did not ask to check the goods we bought, as we have packed them properly.

 

 

We checked in our luggages and had an hour or so to kill.

 

 

We walked around and saw some shops and decided to eat something at EAT while waiting for time to pass.

Finally, we heard our flight number being called and it's time to leave London and return home...

 

Thank you London for the beautiful memories! I will miss you! *Not the expensive stuffs tho*

 

Overall, I enjoyed my London trip the most. Maybe it was more of a city area, with clothes to buy and lesser arty farty stuffs. One other good point was the communication, which is English! If I can I will probably want to visit London again.

 

And with that, all my 6 posts marked the end of my Europe Trip :D
