Part 3 of my Perth trip will be focused on Margaret River. Here we go...
Margaret River
We settled these places within a day as we didn't want to book an apartment in Margaret River. So it was a little rush but we managed!
The Margaret River Chocolate Company
Address: 415 Harman's Mill Rd, Metricup WA 6280
Chocolate Company is a must visit place when you are in Perth especially if you are a huge fan of chocolates. We took a drive down to The Margaret River Chocolate Company.
As we walked into the Chocolate Factory, we were greeted by free samples! Yay! There are 3 different chocolate samples for us to try namely :-
White Chocolate
Milk Chocolate
Dark Chocolate
Here are some pictures in-store the Chocolate Company...
Ice cream! |
They even allocate an area where they sells books and merchandises (such as t-shirts and caps) on chocolates!
And if you want, you can look into their Chocolate Window to see the making of Chocolates!
As we spent a substantial sum on Chocolates, they gave us 4 vouchers (1 of which is not in the picture) for free chocolate liqueur tasting. This tasting is located elsewhere and is a short drive away.
Just follow the sign...
It will lead you to "Providore Margaret River".
There are 4 flavours available for tasting :-
(1) Classic Chocolate
(2) Hazelnut Mousse
(3) Expresso Macchiato
(4) After Dinner Mint
And since we have 4 vouchers, we decided to try all of them!
Other than Chocolate Liqueur tasting, they sells other products too - Jam (they have samples for tasting). There are plastic spoons provided for you to try. Remember, once the spoon touches your mouth, you have to take another spoon, do not use the same spoon to try other products. It would be so gross if you use only 1 spoon right!
Some other parts of Providore...
Nougat Company
Address: Tom Cullity Dr, Cowaramup WA 6284
From the outside, this Nougat Company looks like a home. When we walked in, we were greeted with rolls of Nougats! They even have samples for us to try. The owners were totally friendly, cracking jokes and talking to us. And not forgetting the gorgeous scenery :D
Address: 4259 Caves Road, Margaret River, WA 6285
A place with beautiful scenery with great food! The air is so fresh, a darn awesome place to chill with friends. It's also a perfect place for children to run around.
Messy Ribs with Roasted Potatoes, Slaw and Pickles (AUD 35)
This is a must-try item if you are here! The decadent ribs is so tender and soft and it literally melts in my mouth!
Beer Tasting (AUD 35)
Cape Lavender Tea House
Address: 2 Canal Rocks RD, Yallingup WA 6282
It's all about lavender at Cape Lavender Tea House. All their food and drinks have lavender in them. Even the things they sell have lavender! If you are a fan of lavender, this is a must visit place!
Address: 14/42 Dunn Bay Rd, Dunsborough, WA
For awesome Hot Chocolate, do visit Hot Chocolatte. It's one of the best that I have tried.
Address: 3L Queen St, Busselton WA 6280, Australia
Peaceful and gorgeous view. It was a pity as we didn't have time to visit their Underwater Observatory and try out their Jetty Train. Maybe next time....
Address: Geographe Bay Rd, Busselton WA 6280, Australia
We were relatively full when we arrived at The Goose Beach Bar & Kitchen for dinner. As we had a long drive back to our apartment, so we decided to grab some finger food here.
Cloudy Apple (AUD 4.50)
Popcorn Prawns, Cucumber, Coriander, Chipotle Aioli (AUD 18.50)
Pulled Pork Sliders, Brioche Buns, Red Cabbage Slaw, Pickled Fennel, Chipotle Aioli (AUD 24)
Overall, I like Perth. The people there were friendly and polite, which came as a surprise actually as I was under the impression that as Asians, we will most probably be subjected to racism.
The only one time incident happened in McDonald's, where a group of 3 teens (Ang Moh) secretly took pictures of my grandmother and making fun of her among themselves. They thought I didn't know. I was tempted to confront them but since we were in a foreign country and will be leaving the country soon (plus no physical exchanges took place) I decided to be a better person and ignore them. Hmph!
But seriously, Perth is a good place for young children as their paces is slow. Shops close early. Easy to navigate. Can consider if going with children and elderly!
Till next time...
