Tiny Pea's Travel & Foodie experiences: [Travel] Perth

Hello Readers!!!

It's been a long long time and I really missed my blog :( haha... Anyway, I'm here today to share my recent trip to Down Under - Perth! It's a family trip, so we have with us - an elderly and a toddler. (Challenging right!)

Just before flying, I have heard about how strict Australia Airport is with regards to food. For bringing food items, you have to declare and indicate on your immigration card. You may take a look at this website for more information: http://www.agriculture.gov.au/travelling/bringing-mailing-goods

Okie, so let's see what I had been doing in Perth :D

PS: There is no time difference between Singapore and Perth.
Exchange rate : AUD1 = SGD1.026 (as at 15 Sep 2016) / SGD1.068 (as at 18 Oct 2016)

At the Airport
Singapore
As we are travelling with a toddler, we have a stroller with us. There is no need to check in the stroller. We brought the stroller with us into the departure hall. During the scanning of the boarding pass to the plane, the staff presented us with a plastic bag and a tag for you to collect at the Perth Airport. As per the staff, we can't bring the stroller up the plane, we will have to leave it at a designated area for the staff to collect. We can only collect the stroller at the Perth Airport.

Perth
The flight from Singapore to Perth is approximately 5 hours. It was cold when we arrived. We collected our stroller from the luggages collection area.

Prepaid Sim Card
There were 2 mobile operators shop in Perth Airport i.e. Optus and Vodafone. After some consideration, we decided on Vodafone as there was an awesome deal. For just AUD20, we get a 6GB data plan, 90 minutes international call credit (Singapore included) and free calls & smses in Australia! We couldn't finish the data plan after 6 days. On top of that, the servicing staff is really friendly. Awesome isn't it!

Rental Car
Prior to arriving, we booked our intended rental car from Hertz online. As I'm a SQ Krisflyer member, they gave us a 10% discount. Took up the maximum coverage to protect ourselves. For just 6 days, our rental car (Kia Carnival) costed us AUD933.15. The staff took our credit card and hold the sum of AUD1,100.00. The staff told us that on the last day, we can pay by cash (exact amount as no change will be given), and they will release AUD1,100.00 back to our credit card if all is in order. The whole process is very fast.

After signing the neccessary paperworks, the staff presented us with a car key and told us to proceed to the carpark (about 5 minutes walk) to parking lot no. 44.

Just follow the sign, won't go wrong :)

Apartment
We decided to book an apartment instead of a hotel. We sourced through Airbnb and Stayz and finally decided on this really pretty apartment with good location. The house is the same as the pictures from Stayz (even the bedsheets!). If you are interested, you may book the same apartment at:

As I mentioned earlier, we were travelling with a toddler, so safety is the upmost importance. The landlady is so sweet and helpful that she installed a gate at the top of the staircase, and provided us with a high chair. She also provided us with some bread, milk and juice :) Some pictures below...

Frementle

What's Frementle without Frementle Market!! Frementle Market is only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. So plan ahead guys...

There are many interesting food to eat too. Some of it are instagram-worthy pictures too! Here are some of the stalls that I had tried...

Sells cute rolled waffles with ice cream and other condiments!

Daifuku (AUD 12)

Filing: Strawberry Slices, Asuki Red Bean Paste, Matcha Ice Cream

- Chimek
Sells fried chickens and burgers! We tried their Charcoal Beef Burger. Not bad :P

Food Sample! The chicken is really not bad, but we were too full, so we had to give this a miss :(

Located just beside Chimek, they have 8 interesting baos..

Craving for soft serve instagram-worthy ice cream? This is the place you should go!

- Levi's Doughnuts
Their doughnut is made warm on-site. They are snapped up pretty fast, so do order first. You can collect later.

Coles
Address: Woolstores Shopping Centre, Cantoment St & Goldsborough St, Woolstores Shopping Centre, Fremantle WA 6160, Australia

Coles in located in Woolstores Shopping Centre, A short driving distance away from our apartment. It's the place where we bought our neccessities i.e. distilled water, some ingredients to make food for the toddler... etc... Parking is easy but expensive :( For just 30 mins, it costed us AUD5. It's times like this that makes me think that Singapore parking isn't so expensive afterall...

Galati & Sons

This Continental Deli was recommended by our landlady. They sells fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, cheese and continental foods.

Cicerello's Fish and Chip
Address: 44 Mews Road, Frementle Fish Boat Harbour
Opening time: 10am till late

A really nice place to have Fish and Chip! The scenery overlooking the harbour is awesome. We took a stroll before entering Cicerello's.

Kaili's Fish Market Cafe

Situated near Cicerello's Fish and Chip, Kaili's Fish Market Cafe is another place to have fish and chip :) Sells similar food to Cicerello's Fish and Chip with gorgeous scenery!

Little Creatures
Address: 40 Mews Road, Frementle WA

Little Creatures is situated near the 2 fish and chips cafe. We visited this place during the night. Wanted to sit outside with lesser people but it was so chilly that we ended up squeezing among the crowd as it was less chilly that way. Nice place to chill and drink beer.

Manning
Farmer's Market at Manning

Opening hours: Saturday - 7.30am - 12.30pm

Only open on Saturday. This place sells fresh farm produce. They also sell food and drinks and you can sit at the tables and chairs provided.

Rockingham
Skydive

Feeling adventurous? Try their Skydiving! There are a few locations for skydiving in Perth. We decided to book the one in Rockingham! We did an online booking prior to our arrival, so all we have to do when we arrived is to complete the last few paperworks and take our weight!

Rockingham Shopping Centre

We popped by Rockingham Shopping Centre to catch a quick lunch as it's near the place where the skydiving is. As for shopping, there's Supre, Target and many more! Target is an awesome place to shop! Lots of cheap clothes :) Bought a few baby / toddler clothes in Target!
