[Travel] Shen Zhen - One day F&E

Hi there Readers!!!

I was in Hong Kong a couple of weeks back and decided to visit Shen Zhen for a day. Here's my experience...

Travelling from Hong Kong to Shen Zhen
Travelling to Shen Zhen was fairly easy. Simply take MTR to Lo Wu Station. It's at the end of the blue line.

You can view the MTR map here:
http://www.mtr.com.hk/eng/getting_around/system_map.html

The MTR was not crowded when we decided to go on a Thursday. We were glad we had seats during the long journey to Lo Wu Station. Upon reaching, just follow the signs, if you are not sure, then follow the crowd =D You won't go wrong, trust me.

We cleared the custom and was "greeted" by the large crowd gathering just outside Shen Zhen Custom. Please remember to be mindful of your personal belongings as I heard about pick-pocketing.

Laojie (老街) Station
We decided to take a train from Luo Hu (罗湖) Station to Laojie (老街) Station, and it's only 2 stops away. The ticket cost ¥5 per trip.

Surprisingly, their train looked better than I imagined. Of course, the people there talk quite loudly. Haha... can't say I'm surprise by that.

We reached Laojie Station within 5 minutes. Fast right?

金世界地铁商场
We walked towards the Jing Shi Jie Underground Bazzar (金世界地铁商场), followed the signs, and exit towards Dong Men Pedestrian Street (东门步行街). You can also shop at their underground bazzar...

Dong Men Pedestrian Street (东门步行街)
After taking an escalator up from 金世界地铁商场, we found ourselves at  Dong Men Pedestrian Street (东门步行街). This is the street that has lotsa of clothes, accessories... We spent the bulk of our time wondering around this Street. Not a bad place for shopping.

强记桂林米粉
After shopping for clothes for quite a while, we decided to have our lunch. To be honest, I was very skeptical eating in China due to the media painting an unfavourable picture of the edibles in the said country. However, I felt like I was in the reality show called "Fear Factor". Haha, ok it was a little exaggerated.

农家叉烧粉(¥13)

Ok, the food wasn't as bad as I thought. It was salty. I do like their noodle, it tasted like our thick bee hoon (aka "chu mee fen").

Luo Hu (罗湖) Station
After our late lunch, we headed back to Luo Hu station. Similarly, we purchased their single trip. The irritating part of purchasing the Single Trip ticket is that you have to have the exact ¥5 note! Otherwise, go to their Customer Service Center to do an exchange.

Luohu Commercial City (罗湖商业城)
Luohu Commercial City is situated above Luo Hu Station. There is nothing much here but imitation goods. Hence, we only walked around for about 10 minutes or less.

Travelling back from Shen Zhen to Hong Kong
Saying goodbye to Shen Zhen, we walked back to the Custom, and took the MTR from Lo Wu Station.

Overall Verdict? Head over to Laojie Station instead where there are more stuffs to shop. Do note that not all their clothes are cheap. I went to their H&M, but the clothes there were more expensive than that in Hong Kong. Don't bother shopping at Luohu Commercial City unless you want to buy imitation stuffs. Once again, do take care of your belongings. To me, one day is just nice for a trip in Shen Zhen.
