Today I'm going to blog about this really awesome place called Pollen, located in Gardens by the Bay. They also have buggy service exclusively for Pollen's guest, from Arrival Plaza to the restaurant. Pretty cool right? It was my first time sitting in a buggy. So I was very excited.
We were brought to a sofa sitting. Hehe, all the others had normal chairs, and we had sofa seats!!! Yay!
We were presented with the menus, here's a peek of the menu...
After much consideration, we had the following :-
Appetizers
Shaved cured foie gras, smoked passion fruit, almonds, muscovado (S$38)
Although the shaved cured foie gras looked dry but it literally melts in the mouth. It had a sourish taste from the passion fruit. What I like about this is that the macadamia nut adds to the flavour. And the presentation of this dish looks like an island. Cool! It is a great starter cause of the sourish taste.
"Country Duck" edible soil, blackcurrants and plum (S$36)
I tasted duck in this starter but can't seem to find any duck. I believe the sourish taste came from the cranberry. The "soil" is a kind of nut which I can't identify :( I love this presentation too. Doesn't it look like a garden. Interesting...
Loin of venison, salsify, poached quince, juniper, blackberries (S$70)
The venison was very tender without the gamey smell. The salsify tasted like it was marinated very long and it remained crunchy yet flavourful.
300-day grain-fed beef tenderloin, scorched onions, glazed foie gras, pickled red cabbage (S$70)
When it was served, I had a shocked because the tenderloin looked thick and chunky. So I was expecting it to be very tough. However, I was wrong. It was extremely tender despite the thick cut. The scorched onion was a very good complement to the tenderlion.
In additional, we had a free visit to part of the flower dome, a lovely place to take pictures. Here are some pictures...
