[Foodie] Rich & Good Cake Shop Pte Ltd @ Kandahar St

Hihi Readers!!!

Recently I came across this awesome shop that sells really nice Swiss Roll. Their Swiss Roll are soft and fluffy and had a really rich flavour.

If you are in the vicinity, why not try them?

These are some of the flavours that I'd tried.

[Foodie] Dazzling Cafe @ Capitol Piazza

Dear Readers!!!

The recent craze brought me to Dazzling Cafe one weekend. Boy oh boy, there was already a queue outside the cafe. Since we were there, we decided to queue. It took us more than an hour to queue.

Some pictures of the cafe....

The view from second floor...

See the mini lift where they use to transport the food and the dirty utensils up and down. Cool!

Matcha with Azuki Beans Honey Toast (S$19.90)

Definitely instagram-worthy. The white stuff you see on the bread is cream. A little too much cream if you ask me. There is matcha ice cream within the cream which I like. The bread is crispy as per our request. The bread cube went well with the cream and ice cream. A word of caution: don't remove the top portion by yourself. Get the staffs to assist. The table beside us did it by themselves and made a mess.....

Valrhona Chocolate Waffle with Bailey Ice Cream (S$15.40)

We ordered the crispy waffle but felt that it wasn't crispy enough. It was dry with only the cream and without the bailey ice cream I seriously wouldn't finish eating it. Love the bailey ice cream though.

Overall, it's only worth one visit. Queued for slightly more than an hour. The food is quite costly and desserts are mediocre. More like a fad food and it's a little disappointing. I doubt I will revisit again.

[Foodie] Tai-Parfait @ Plaza Singapura

Hihi Readers!!!

I was gallivanting in Plaza Singapura when I came across this cute little shop selling Taiyaki with ice cream or cream and/or fruits. Ain that sweet....

So basically, you just choose your preferred taiyaki flavour and filling.

We selected the following, both with Azuki filling......

Tai-Parfait Banana Cheese Cream Crunch (S$5.00)

The cheese cream went well with the banana and taiyaki. Red bean (Azuki) filling is a little sweet. Petite size so small eaters are still able to finish this adorable dessert.

Tai-Parfait Matcha & Azuki (S$5.50)
With Matcha Ice Cream

Chose the Matcha Ice Cream. If eaten individually, the Red Bean is a tad too sweet, but went well with the ice cream and green tea cream. A bit messy to eat with the Ice Cream dripping down my hand. But overall, a decent dessert.

[Foodie] Jara Petit @ Dhoby Xchange

Hello Readers!!!

First of all, Happy National Day!

I was craving for cheesecake when I remembered my friend told me about the delectable cheesecups from Jara Petit! They sell mini cheesecake in a mini cup size which is easy for small eaters. Moveover, they are all so pretty looking.

Yay, national day promotion! So awesome! So I decided to try all their 9 flavours!

Original Cheesecup
Smooth original cheesecake with a wheatmeal biscuit crust

It's not as light as I thought with digestive biscuits as a crust. One of my favourite nonetheless.

Blueberry Cheesecup
The Classic topped with luscious blueberries

This feels like original cheesecup with jam on top.

Lemon Cheesecup
The Classic topped with homemade lemon curd

I was expecting artificial lemon taste but surprisingly I could taste the slight hint of citrus.

Lavender Cheesecup
Fresh lavender infused cheesecake

Was expecting to eat soap but I was wrong. Way wrong! It was refreshing to taste (and see the pods) the lavender. It was like my tongue just went for aromatherapy.

Matcha Cheesecup
Japanese green tea infused cheesecake

A totally different looking cheesecup as the rest but still tasted not bad. Strong matcha aftertaste which is great!

Banoffee Cheesecup
Banana cheesecake with toffee sauce and a dollap of whipped cream

I can't really taste the toffee as the banana overwhelmed the overall taste.

Strawberry Cheesecup
Strawberry blended cheesecake topped with fresh strawberry cubes

It was beautifully adorned with strawberry cubes on top. The strawberry flavour seeped through the cake and it appeared that this cheesecake portion is slightly softer abit on the creamy side.

Cookies & Cream Cheesecup
Oreo cheesecake with cookie chunks and an oreo crust

The only one that do not have the "digestive biscuit" base but instead of feeling "oreo-y", felt like original cheesecup with chocolate cookies base.

Durian Cheesecup
Signature cheesecake made using fresh durian pulp

The one to end the tasting journey. If you eat this for the start, all other flavours will be distorted. Quite good flavouring used and not too strong either.

Overall
After trying all the flavours, I decided my favourite few cheesecups are original, blueberry, strawberry, cookie & cream and durian. **Oops that's like 5 out of 9 cheesecups** haha...

[Foodie] Tian Kee & Co @ Dakota Crescent

Good Evening Readers!!!

The recent hype on this kind of hipster cafe is beginning to rub off on me. So here I was at this vintage 2 storied block. An alfresco dining, Tian Kee & Co served food and desserts. I heard this used to be an old provision shop.

I was very excited when I saw the rainbow cheesecake. Ain that pretty? I'm a fan of cheesecakes, so how can I forgo trying out their popular cheesecake?

My heart nearly stopped when I saw the empty Yuan Yang Cheesecake at the display counter. Thank God they still had the cake when we placed our order at the cashier.

A glimpse of their menu....

We decided on the following :-

Iced Pink Lady (S$6)
Rose Syrup with Fresh Milk

A decent drink if you are a fan of bandung. What I like is that it's not so sweet.

 Peppermint Ice Nutella (S$7)

Too little Nutella. The bulk of it was stuck at the bottom and it doesn't dissolve easily. Only a slight hint of chocolate flavour towards the end but by then, there was more ice than tea in the cup.

Rainbow Yogurt Cheesecake (S$7.50)

An Instagram-worthy cake. It's light tasting and because of the yogurt, there is a slight sourish taste which is good if you are afraid of too much cheese. The rainbow design brings delight to the sight but not much to the bite.

Yuan Yang Cake (S$6.50)

The combination is very refreshing and especially fitting for a location and atmosphere for Tian Kee & Co. A western dessert with a kopitiam twist. The cake is divided into upper and lower half. The upper half consist of teh-O and bottom half is kopi-C. My favourite part about this cake is the upper half as it appears that the tea leaves are being grinded and added to bring out that extra "oomph" in teh-O. The gist of a good yuan yang is to have the best of both worlds and this cake certainly did it well.

Overall, it's a pretty nice place to chill out with friends. Will visit again for their Gula Melaka Cheesecake.
