[Foodie] Billy Bombers @ Cineleisure Orchard

Aloha Readers!!!

It's been quite a while since I updated my website. Anyhow, my most recent dinner experience is at Billy Bombers which serves Western Food. Why Billy Bombers? Well, I was given two $10 vouchers redeemable with an order of Exclusive Citibank Set, hence my decision to try Billy Bombers at Cineleisure Orchard.

It wasn't crowded when we stepped into Billy Bombers. What I was pleasantly surprise was that the staffs were very attentive. I was clutching the Citibank vouchers in my hand, and when we were ushered to our seats, one of the staff handed us the Citibank Set Menu.

Cool right! Anway, for us to enjoy the promotion, we had to order 2 Ribs Combo Main Course and 2 Milkshakes / USA Root Beer Float.

Here's a glance of our choices...

Cookies n Cream Milkshake (S$7.90) & Peanut Butter Milkshake (S$7.90)

Billy Famous Rib n Fish (S$23.90)

Billy Famous Rib n Gourmet Dog (S$23.90)

** Note: These are only available if you have the $10 Citibank Voucher.

Overall Verdict?
- Service: Was better than expected. Kudos to the staffs!
- Food: Love the ribs! It was awesome! The pictures really did not do justice. However, the milkshakes were a little too much. Unable to finish the milkshakes.
- I will definitely make a return visit again! Keep up the good work!

[Foodie] Mussels Guy @ Vivocity

Good afternoon Readers!!!

Hmm.. this time round, my foodie experience was average... maybe not that great.... Was in Vivocity on friday's night. Walked pass Mussels Guy and decided to have dinner there. The waitress brought us in, our order were taken. So far so good. Read on.....

Fruits Delight & Shrimp Salad (S$12.50)

Pan Seared Pacific Dory Fillet (S$35.80)

Overall Verdict?
- Service: It was during dinner peak period. The waiters and waitresses were very busy, and it's very difficult to catch their attention. It was horrible as they had frown on their faces and they don't seemed happy working.
- Food: The salad arrived very quickly. It taste ok... Well, the nightmare was that we had to wait more than 45 mins for the Dory Fillet, and that was after 2 attempts of asking for that order. I was seriously hungry. (A hungry man is an angry man) When it finally arrived, the food was horrible, it seemed that the fish was cooked in a hurried attempt.
- Will I go back? No not in the near future. Unless they improve the quality of the food and their services, it's a no-go for me.

As usual, here's a peek of their menu.....

Feeling hungry already?? *Grin* Here are some pictures of my food and drink selections. Don't drool!!! =P

Lime Juice (S$3) & Soda Float (S$4)

THAI FOOD:
Crispy Crab Tofu (S$10)
Deep-fried silken tofu stuffed with fresh crabmeat, minced pork and coriander. Served with a fiery dipping sauce.

NORTH INDIAN FOOD:
Chicken Tikka Set (S$12)
5 pieces of boneless chicken marinated in Indian spices and yougurt baked in Tandoor + plain naan + 2 pieces of papadum.

WESTERN FOOD:
Grain Fed Ribeye [Grill's cut] with Steakhouse fries and Tangy Coleshaw (S$25)
This great tasting steak will be charbroiled to your desired dones and served with 2 choices of your favourite Complements.

Overall verdict?
- Service: I love their service, they are really attentive!
- Food: Lovely! I nearly finish their soda float before the food arrived. It would be better if the Crispy Crab Tofu were made smaller. Goes well with beer! Enjoyed the Chicken Tikka Set and the Ribeye.

[Foodie] Mad Jack @ Nex

Hi there Readers!!!

I must have been madly crazy to visit Nex the second time within a week. This time round I decided to try out their Mad Jack Cafe which serves western food. Also, their name seems madly and interestingly tempting ^.^ Therefore, without a second thought, Mad Jack Cafe became my dinner choice of the day.. Hoho!

They have a wide variety of choices and it was rather tough, as everything seemed delicious but finally, I narrowed it down to........ No. #006 and added the $9 upgrade.

To order, you would have to fill in this form, and pay at the cashier before they served the food. One bonus point in doing so, is that once you finish your food, you can just walk out of the restaurant. There's no need to wait for the bill to come.

Grilled Salmon in Cream Sauce & Mashed Potato (S$16.90) & Added Pepsi, Soup & Dessert of the Day (S$9)

Overall Verdict?
- Food: The Cream of Mushroom Soup was very bland! It seemed they have forgotten to add salt inside. I enjoyed the main dish mainly because I love eating salmon. And I felt that the peach salad complemented the fish quite well. I was pretty full by the time the dessert (Chocolate banana cake with Vanilla ice cream) arrived. However, I finish the dessert!
-Service: As we were sitted in a corner, it was quite hard to catch the servers attention at times. Otherwise it was generallly alright.
- I love Nex! There's a variety of food outlets to select from. Will I come back to Mad Jack? Yes I will, excluding their soupy upgrades. And for Muslims, you will be happy to know that this place is Halal!!!

[Foodie] Paradise Inn @ Nex

Good Day Readers!!!

Another of my foodie entry. This time I will be blogging about Catonese Food at Paradise Inn (Serangoon Nex). *Yummy* Went there with my family and yes, as usual, Nex is very crowded especially on weekends. -.-"'

We selected their Set Menu D, and replace their Braised Tofu with Crystal Prawns with their Crisp-fried Crstal Prawns in Wasabi Mayo Sauce. The cost? Additional S$5/- on top of the Set Menu price.

Peanuts x 2 (S$3)

Set Menu D with Wasabi Prawns as Replacement (S$123)

Overall Verdict?
- Service: It was during the peak hour - Lunch, so service is just average.
- Food: Quality is evident. I love the wasabi prawns. ^.^
- Most likely I may not come back to this outlet, since it's can be really crowded. But definitely I will return for their food, probably in another outlet...

[Foodie] Riders Cafe

Hello Readers!!!

Do you love animals? Horses? And to enjoy a great meal as well? If you do, then I have this really awesome place to recommend you to. And it's...... Riders Cafe!!! *Grin* I remembered my very first time to Riders Cafe was on a Sunday sunny afternoon. During this period, you can see a lot of people (mainly ang mohs) tending to their horses and kids going on Pony rides.

My second time there was on a weekday night. The cafe was not as full as it will be on a weekend. Gone are the chatters of those who will be tending their horses on a weekend. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Bascially, the place is designed as an open air concept in which you can relax and enjoy your food in tranquility.

There's also a variety of food and beverages in which you can choose from. Here's a glimpse of their menu.

Let's move on to the important part of this entry... pictures of my choice of..... FOOD!!! Hungry??

Special Present from Riders Cafe (Free)

Chocolate Banana Milkshake (S$7.50) & Peanut Butter Milkshake (S$7.50)

Bacon wrapped Pork w/ Apple Chutney & Roasted Herbed Potatoes (S$26)
Roasted Black Cod with Raisin and Almond Couscous, Creamed Spinach & Lemon Caper Sauce (S$27)

Freshly baked Tea Scones with Clotted Cream & Raspberry Jam - Limited Portions a day (S$9)

Overall Verdict?
- Service: The servicer staffs are quite attentive. They do make an effort to ensure that you enjoyed the food.
- Drinks: I love the Peanut Butter Jelly Milkshake (a must try!). I went there the second time for this =)
- Food: I had the Roasted Black Cod which I enjoyed very much... and the Tea Scones is another must try item!
- If you don't mind the occasional smell of horses, the non air-conditioned setup and some time away from the blustering city, then this is a place for you!

[Travel] Bintan - One day Spa Trip @ Mutiara Beach

Hihi Readers!!!

Recently, I went for a one day Spa Trip to Bintan Island with a group of friends. And I was really excited about this trip... Are you interested to know more about my experiences there?? Well, I suppose if you read until here, it means YES you are definitely interested! So... Here goes my first travel experience documented in this blog....

Ferry to Bintan
All of us reach Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal by 7.20am. Upon collection of our boarding passes, we went for a quick breakfast at Killiney Kopitiam. After our breakfast, we proceeded to check in. Our high speed ferry left Singapore at 8am (Singapore Time), and reach Bintan at 9am (Singapore Time).

Note: Bintan is an hour behind Singapore.

Oh!!! Our Ferry!!!

Bintan Ferry Terminal
We were all very excited when we reach Bintan. However, my mood was dampened by a brusque Custom Officer who insisted that I wrote an address in Bintan. At that time, I wasn't sure about the exact name of the Resort, thus I wrote "Resort" and to my dismay, his reply was to toss my passport onto the counter. I was quite peeved as it was only the beginning of my trip.

We made our way to the entrance of the Ferry Terminal, but there was no sign of our driver. One of us have to make a call back to the tour agency in Singapore who promised to call us back. We waited for about 30mins for our driver to appear.

Bintan Ferry Terminal

Journey to the Resort
Mutiara Beach, Bintan (the name of the resort - which I finally learnt) is about an hour drive from the Ferry Terminal. The most fascinating part of the journey was that our driver had to pump petrol. It's really an eye-opener... Here's a picture of how they pump the petrol. Interesting ~

Resort
Finally, we reach the Resort =)

We were greeted by their village dog, Toby. One of the staff offered us a few packets of Lavender Insect Repellant. Apparently, it was raining in the morning, thus there were a lot of mosqitoes. The Lavender Insect Repellant was to keep these irritating mosqitoes away.

Toilet
Very interesting Kampong style toilet...

Toilet anyone?

Massage
We were whisked away to the other end of the Resort. Preparation was made for our body scrub and massage. The body scrub and massage lasted for 100 mins.

Making our way to the "room"

The room is not air-conditioned

Sampan
After massage, we tried out their sampan ride. The little sampan was not steady at all, and many a time it threatened to capsize, which was met with our squealings. I did not dare to move once I sat down, for fear that the little sampan will capsize.

Lunch
We had our kampong lunch there. *Hungry*

Kampong Nasi Lemak

Coconut

Pineapple -> It's sweet!!

Beach
We walked around the Mutiara Beach... Enjoying the breeze and the sea water...

Lotsa fun at the beach!

Ketupat
As we still have some time to spare, they offered to teach us have to tie 2 ribbons together to form a Ketupat.

Semi DIY Ketupat

Ferry to Singapore
At last, it was time to journey back to the Ferry Terminal. Once we reach the Ferry Terminal, I brought a packet of Snoppy Potato Chips. And... its time to say bye bye to Bintan.....

Snoopy Potato Chips!!! Cute!!!

Overall Verdict?
It started out badly with the Custom Officer showing attitude and the driver being 30 mins late, but towards the end, we had lots of fun.

Tips:
- Bintan uses SGD. Hence, there's no need to change money.
- Ensure that you fill in your destination in Bintan.
